The Story of the Virgin

Throughout the first two millenniums, The Story of the Virgin has held its preeminence among all the beloved stories of the Orthodox people. On all occasions ranging from wonderment to admiration, from awe to fear, from apprehension to despai, the response of the Orthodox people has been, "Panagia mou!" (My all-Holy One). The Virgin being one of us mortals in every sense of the word, we have come to identify with her much more easily, closely and readily that even with the Lord Himself. Many books have been written about the Virgin Mary, so why another book?
There are several reasons to write about the Virgin Mary. Firstly, this book is written to bridge the past with the present. Secondly, it will show the humanity of today's people, that no matter how great or lowly were our fore bearers of both the Old and the New Testament, no matter what the wonderful things they wrought for us, they were no different than we are ... Finally, it is the intent of this book to enable the reader to discover where our present day customs , traditions and religious practices had their beginnings.
